The Cult Of Pastor Steven Anderson

There is a hate preacher who goes by the name Steven Anderson. He is infamous for promoting the death of gay people. For those who don't know, he teaches that gay people should be killed. His belief is that the government should do it. That being said, there is another problem about this individual that needs to be addressed.

Is Steven Anderson running a cult? To answer that, let's review this man's actions and words. To start with, let's take a look at a time he disagreed with one of the members of his church, and instead of having a rational conversation, he decided to humiliate him and throw him out of the church.

In the video, you can notice that the other members weren't thinking for themselves about this. They were on Pastor Steven Anderson's side, with a few of them acting as his attack dogs and physically forcing the man out. Must have been humiliating, but cults don't really care about that. They blindly obey their leader and attack on command.

In the video, Pastor Anderson threatened to throw anyone who tries to walk up and speak out of the church. This shouldn't be a surprise. Cult leaders want everything to go exactly the way they want it. They want full control over every bit of it. In this moment, he went on a rant saying "I'm the man of God here, I meet the qualifications, and if you don't like that, GET OUT!". Quite egotistical there, aren't you, Steven Anderson?

He continued ranting about how every first time newcomer who has never read the Bible isn't going to go up and take over the service. He went further to throw Amish communities under the bus, calling them watered down messages and saying that's where they should go if they want to "take over the service". Except, no one was trying to take over the service. The man he threw out simply wanted to talk to him, which threw Steven Anderson into a fit of rage. He wanted the spotlight on himself, and how dare anyone interrupt that.

If someone is speaking to an entire group of people saying bad things about you, wouldn't you want to speak up? Steven Anderson doesn't care, though. He was too busy turning his cult members against that man. When the man was trying to speak up, Steven Anderson acted fast to stop him. And of course, they all turned against him, leaving him utterly humiliated. Steven Anderson got what he wanted.

In his rant, he asked why people don't just come clean in front of the congregation. If you knew someone had a tendency to humiliate people in front of an entire congregation, would you give them the opportunity? A normal organization would just let him walk away. A cult likes to disgrace and humiliate, as Steven Anderson did. That's why he wanted anyone else who disagrees with the Trinity dogma to "come clean". He wanted to rant about them. Letting them go out without a fuss would endanger his ability to have full control of it. He demands to know!

Going further, he mentions how he discovered it. He saw the man's wife commenting on Pastor Tyler Baker's videos and later confronted the man about it. Cult leaders are nosy about what their members do outside the organization. At the end of the video, he directed his members to turn to Genesis chapter 1 to prove the trinity. In another incident, one member really got under Steven Anderson's skin by texting other members of the cult and telling them that he disagrees with his teachings. In the video, Steven Anderson rants on to say that the man should have gone to him about it. Even then, would he have been able to talk to others about it? Not likely!

Open discussion is important to avoid indoctrination, but Steven Anderson likes to be in full control. Ironically, he called the man's actions back biting, while he has done the same thing to others. Doesn't that make him a hypocrite?

Before kicking the man out, he complained because the man didn't go to him about his opinion, stating that he supposedly welcomes those who disagree with the claim that they are still welcome. The way he said it though, indicates that he is not receptive. He made no indication that he'll be open to change his mind, only that he'll welcome them anyway. Cult leaders are not receptive to anyone. Their way is the only way.

After kicking the man out, Steven Anderson contradicted himself by saying "Now look, I will listen to people who are actually members of our church, people who have actually attended here, not a first time visitor".

What happened to his previous statement about the man going to him directly? The answer is simple: A "first time visitor" is likely to think rationally, while people who have been members for a while are already under the full control and indoctrination of the cult leader. He never had the intention to listen. He has purified his church to include only those who are compliant.

After kicking the man out, he pulled another form of deceit to make himself look good. He asked the other members of his church to give him one reason why he shouldn't kick him out. Considering that the members are well trained to take his side on everything, he already knew no one would give a reason, and that's what Pastor Steven Anderson wanted!

As a bonus, while he was kicking the man out, he made the statement "we've got a bunch of filthy f%gg%ts protesting us right now". Considering the fact that he's been calling for their execution and using such derogatory language, there should be more protests. He has no right playing the victim. He chose to call for an unjust end to their life, so now he's getting the proper response he deserves.

Later in the video, he was rambling on and on, and he asked those who agree with the dogma about the sodomites to raise their hand. Of course, they all raised their hand, which Steven Anderson followed up with "You know what? He insulted all of you". So there we get to the part where he keeps and maintains the loyalty of his loyal members by turning them against the one individual and convincing them that the one individual is against them as well, which results in the members drawing closer to their leader. Cult leaders do this to convince their members that they have their best interest at heart.

On into the video when he's saying that those who object to his teachings should go up to him about it, he tells his members that if they hear anyone saying anything about his teachings, they should tell him about it. Cults don't allow open discussion without the leader's knowledge. A normal organization would, but Steven Anderson's organization isn't a normal one. He's in charge, he's makes the rules, his way is the only way, and he expects EVERYTHING to be reported to him. Cults do this to filter criticism from reaching those who are indoctrinated. They'd lose their loyal members otherwise. Adding to this statement, he told his members that he would tell them if anyone was going behind their back. Gotta butter 'em up to keep them hooked!

Despite him calling it slander, the man wasn't attacking Steven Anderson. He was criticizing his teachings. Lots of people get criticized for their teachings. They just don't go on a tirade to turn an entire congregation against the critic.

The video of the entire incident can be found here, and those with a rational mind can recognize the deceit in Steven Anderson's words, tone, eye contact, and body language: https://youtu.be/N7aG2BgIJwg

Speaking of back biting, Steven Anderson himself has done the exact same thing. Here is a perfect example where Steven Anderson was back biting Andrew Sluder: https://youtu.be/WxJnaq23zfo

In the video, Steven Anderson proved his hypocrisy in a mere 59 seconds. He called Andrew Sluder's doctrine "poison", going so far as to say Andrew Sluder isn't "saved", simply because his teaching of the Trinity is different from Steven Anderson's. Remember, Steven Anderson is the best and his way is the only way. In the video, he called people like Andrew Sluder "bozos". He ended the video telling people to stay away from the teachings of people like Andrew Sluder.

This rant from Steven Anderson was so ironic it almost hurts. First off, he did the very same thing to Andrew Sluder as what the man in the other video did to Steven Anderson. Even then, the man in the other video was just simply talking, not telling people to stay away from that church. Steven Anderson, though, with his double standards and hypocrisy, did worse by telling people to stay away from Andrew Sluder. Did Steven Anderson actually take it up with Andrew Sluder face to face? Or does he only apply that expectation to what people say about his own teachings?

In conclusion, Steven Anderson is an irritable, unhinged cult leader full of hypocrisy, double standards, manipulation, and a hateful, controlling attitude.

For those who don't know what bozo means, here's a screenshot. Steven Anderson does not filter his words when he's being a complete bully.

Ironically, Steven Anderson himself uses this word on a lot of people. "Rude" and "insignificant" are two things that bozo can mean. Safe to conclude that Steven Anderson is, in fact, a bozo.
